How it works…
Laser Hair Removal works by directing a concentrated beam of light at hair follicles. The pigment (melanin) in the hair absorbs the light, which then converts into heat. The heat damages the follicle, inhibiting or delaying future hair growth.

Client FAQs
Do I need to do anything to prepare for the treatment?
Before you start – Only shave, don’t do any other hair removal methods, for at least 4 weeks before your first treatment and for the duration of your treatments.
Patch test – no prep or shaving required. In fact it’s great for us to see how your hair growth is.
Before your sessions – ensure your skin is clean and shave the area the evening prior to your treatment.
Do I need a consultation/patch test?
All new clients require a pre-treatment patch test even if you have received laser treatment elsewhere before. Your first treatment can then take place no less than 24h from the patch test.
Consultations/patch tests are £20 but this is fully redeemable off your laser session/course as long as you attend.
Do you treat men?
Yes. We offer a range of hair removal options to all genders.
Can I have laser hair removal over the top of tattoos?
No, unfortunately, we cannot treat over tattoos with our laser. We can treat around the tattooed areas with a gap of 3cm.
How long should I go between laser hair removal appointments?
Depending on your hair and skin type and the area being treated, you will usually require treatments at 4-6 week intervals sometimes as long as 12 weeks depending on hair growth. Each part of the body has a different hair growth cycle, so the hair loss will vary depending on what phase your follicles are in at the time of treatment.
What are the side effects from laser hair removal?
Temporary side effects may include: redness, itchy skin, mild follicle swelling, irritation on treatment areas. All of which are normal post laser hair removal treatment. It is important to follow the correct prep and aftercare to receive maximum results with minimal side effects to the treatment.
Can I have my treatment when I am on my period?
Yes – you can still have laser hair removal treatment while on your period. We advise you to wear a tampon or menstrual cup if you would like to have the Hollywood area treated.
Can I have laser hair removal if I am on certain medications?
Certain medications can cause photo-sensitivity to the skin and this may affect the skin’s reaction to the treatment. These medications are but not limited to oral and topical vitamin A’s, antibiotics, and certain anti-depressants. It is best to speak with your medical professional and obtain medical clearance. After obtaining medical clearance, we are able to test patch you with the laser to determine if it is safe to commence treatment.
What body/face hair colour cannot be treated with laser?
Unfortunately, we cannot treat blonde, grey/white and some types of red hair with our laser hair removal treatment. The light of the laser is only attracted to the melanin (pigment) of the hair hence these hair colours cannot be treated.
Which skin tones can be treated with our laser?
Laser hair removal works best on clients with light skin and dark hair, as laser targets melanin in the follicle. We treat skin tones 1-4 with our diode laser. Our laser technicians use the Fitzpatrick Classification scale to determine your skin tone at consultation and select the most suitable setting for your laser hair removal treatment. Please be advised that your settings may change throughout your course to ensure optimal results. Darker skin tones 5 & 6 need longer wavelengths e.g. Nd: YAG to avoid melanin absorption in the skin
Do you offer numbing before treatment?
Unfortunately, topical numbing creams are not safe nor effective when doing laser hair removal. The sensation you feel in treatment is not felt on the skin, but in the follicle of the hair. Unfortunately numbing cream cannot penetrate deep enough to minimise discomfort that may be felt at the follicle. Please ensure that no occlusive creams are present on the treatment areas when undergoing laser hair removal treatments. We do ice more sensitive areas before and after treatment. Please under no circumstances use any numbing cream on the area.
Will all the treated hair be removed in one session?
No, each Laser Hair Removal treatment provides a 10%-15% hair reduction. It’s important to complete the initial course of treatments and at consistent intervals, and maintenance treatments every 10-12 months for permanent hair reduction. You can choose to extend the intervals if you prefer to have a minimal reduction.
What is the minimum age for laser hair removal?
Our clients must be at least 18 years of age to have any laser or skin treatment.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
Each pulse lasts less than a second, producing a slight tingling feeling. In particularly sensitive areas, such as the upper lip, it may feel like a rubber band snap on the skin. We use an advanced cooling machine in conjunction with our laser device to reduce the heat sensation on the skin and minimise any discomfort.
Can I still get laser hair removal when I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?
Under no circumstances – we are not insured to laser clients who are pregnant or breastfeeding. We advise our pregnant clients to put their laser on hold until 3 after months of giving birth.
Why does laser hair removal require several sessions?
Many people wonder why laser hair removal, on average, takes 6 to 12 treatments, instead of just one visit. The answer lies in the hair growth cycle. How does hair grow? What happens during this cycle? Here are the basics of the hair growth cycle and how it relates to laser hair removal.
The Hair Growth Cycle
Hair goes through three separate stages as it grows. The growth phase (anagen) is where your hair is actually growing. At any given time, most of the hair on your body is in this phase.
The transitional phase (catagen) is when the follicle rests, and cuts off the hair from its blood supply.
The resting phase (telogen) is when the follicle is dormant. The hair is in place, but not growing any longer. At the end of the cycle, the growth phase begins again, shedding the old shaft of hair and beginning a new one.
When you shave off a hair, you simply shorten the shaft but it keeps growing below the surface and quickly reappears. When you use laser treatment, it targets the hair follicle itself, so that it will no longer produce a shaft of hair.
Laser treatments specifically disable hair follicles that are in the anagen phase of the cycle. Since not all of your hair is in the same growth stage at the same time, each treatment will address the portion of your hair that is in that stage at that time. By scheduling a series of treatments four to eight weeks apart, you can treat all of your hair.
What happens if I cannot attend one of my booked sessions?
If you fail to cancel or reschedule with at least 48hrs notice, you will lose that session.
