FAQs

What is Dermaluxe LED Phototherapy?

Dermalux LED Phototherapy is a non-invasive treatment utilising specific wavelengths of light to stimulate cellular processes. This stimulation enhances the skin’s natural rejuvenation and healing abilities, addressing various dermatological conditions. The therapy employs red 633nm, blue 415nm , and near-infrared 830nm light, which are clinically proven to be effective in promoting skin health and treating conditions like acne, psoriasis, and aging skin.

What sensations can be expected during treatment?

Dermalux treatment is a relaxing and pain-free experience. While the treatment itself does not generate heat, some users may experience a sensation of natural warmth due to increased blood circulation in the treated areas, contributing to an overall feeling of well-being.

Is it safe?

Dermalux LED has a high safety profile. It is clinically proven to be safe for all skin types, including sensitive skin conditions.

How many sessions are needed?

Many clients notice an immediate improvement in skin clarity and calmness after just one session. Redness appears reduced, skin feels soothed and hydrated, and the complexion looks fresher and more radiant. For concerns such as acne, psoriasis, collagen stimulation and pain relief, a course of treatments is recommended to achieve optimal, long-lasting results — but your skin will begin responding from the very first visit.

What is the duration of the results?

Results of Dermalux LED Phototherapy can last for several months, depending on the condition treated. For prolonged benefits, regular maintenance treatments are recommended as part of a continuous skin health regimen.

Does it stimulate vitamin D?

No, Dermalux does not stimulate Vitamin D production. Vitamin D synthesis requires UVB light, which is not used in Dermalux treatments. Dermalux employs specific wavelengths in the visible and near-infrared spectrum, which do not contribute to Vitamin D production.

Can LED induce tanning of the skin?

No, Dermalux will not induce tanning. It uses wavelengths outside the UV spectrum, specifically targeted to therapeutic wavelengths, ensuring no UV exposure and therefore no tanning effect.

How old do you need to be to have this service?

18

Can LED be used on clients currently undergoing cancer treatment?

It is not recommended to use Dermalux LED Phototherapy on clients currently undergoing cancer treatment. Treatment can be considered once the client has been cleared by their oncologist or doctor. Dermalux is safe for use on clients who have completed cancer treatment.

Is it safe to use on pregnant clients?

While Dermalux LED Phototherapy is generally safe, its effects have not been extensively studied in pregnant women. Therefore we don’t offer this service for pregnant clients. The treatment is considered safe for clients who are breastfeeding.

How does Dermalux LED Phototherapy compare to other light based treatments?

Dermalux LED Phototherapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses clinically proven wavelengths of light to rejuvenate and repair the skin. Unlike other light-based treatments such as laser or IPL, Dermalux LED Phototherapy is suitable for all skin types, during all seasons and does not cause thermal damage or discomfort. It can effectively treat a variety of skin concerns with no downtime.

What type of skin conditions can it treat?

Dermalux LED Phototherapy can treat a wide range of skin conditions including medical indications such as acne, psoriasis and pain management. It is also used from many cosmetic indications including signs of aging such as fine lines and wrinkles. It also aids in wound healing, modules inflammation, and promotes overall skin health.

Can it be combined with other skincare treatments?

Yes, Dermalux LED Phototherapy can be safely combined with other skincare treatments. It enhances the results by stimulating cell regeneration, modulating inflammation and promoting faster healing. Always consult with a skincare professional to determine the best combination for your specific needs.

What should I do to prepare my skin before my session?

To prepare for a Dermalux LED Phototherapy session, ensure your skin is clean and free of any makeup, lotions, or oils. It’s best to avoid using any highly active skincare ingredients immediately before the treatment. Inform your therapist about any medications or skin conditions you have.

Are there any post treatment instructions?

After your Dermalux LED Phototherapy session, you can resume your normal skincare routine. It’s recommended to apply a hydrating moisturiser and use sunscreen to protect your skin from UV exposure.

Can it be used on all skin tones?

Yes, Dermalux LED Phototherapy is safe and effective for all skin tones.

What scientific evidence supports the effectiveness?

Thousands of clinical studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of LED Phototherapy in treating various skin conditions. These studies show that specific wavelengths of light can stimulate collagen production, reduce inflammation, and accelerate healing processes. Dermalux LED systems are clinically proven and backed by scientific research.

What’s the difference between red, blue and near-infared light therapy?

Red light (630nm): Boosts collagen production, improves skin elasticity, and reduces fine lines and wrinkles.

Blue light (415nm): Targets acne-causing bacteria, reducing breakouts and preventing future acne.

Near-infrared light (830nm): Penetrates deeper into the skin to reduce inflammation, promote wound healing, and relieve pain.

Are there any contraindications?

Contraindications include epilepsy, severe light sensitivities, and certain medications that cause photosensitivity. Always consult with a healthcare provider to ensure LED Phototherapy is safe for you.

Can it be used if I’m on topical or oral steroids?

It is advisable to consult with your healthcare provider before starting the treatment to ensure there are no specific contraindications based on your individual health profile.
