FAQs

Does it hurt?

The micro-needling treatment takes place using a precise system. This allows the treatment depth to be adjusted to the client’s comfort and treatment goals. It can be a little uncomfortable in certain areas, however we will work with your skin and progress over time.

How many treatments will I need?

Pro Microneedling can be performed every 4 – 8 weeks. Establishing the skin’s tolerance and healing capability will determine the exact frequency of services. A course of 3 – 6 treatments is usually recommended for optimum results.

What device is used for Microneedling?

We use Dermalogica Pro Pen device to deliver clean and controlled perforation for best possible results.

How much down time is there?

You may experience some mild redness and irritation for 2-3 days after treatment, but this will subside quickly. This is a natural response! Results will be visible within 2 weeks.

Can’t I just use a ‘at home roller’ for the same effect?

At home derma roller needle/spike depths are more for product absorption, usually between 0.1mm – 0.3mm, not to create micro injuries that are made for skin re-modelling. In contrast professional microneedling tools range from 0.5-3mm that perforate the skin at deeper levels and require advanced qualifications and training to deliver safe and effective treatment in a sterile environment.

How do I maximise my results?

Skin priming 2-4 weeks prior to the procedure will be important to enhance skin health and repair and regeneration, ensuring optimal skin healing post treatment. We can help you with ensuring your skin is in optimum condition. For example drinking plenty of water in the coming weeks before your treatment and making sure you have a good home care routine.

Who is not suitable for microneedling?

Microneedling is generally safe for all skin types apart from those with Rosacea or very active acne. Absolute contraindications include Cancer, Malignant Tumours, contagious skin infections, history of any Keloid or excessive hypertrophic scaring, autoimmune disorders, dysfunction to nervous system, epilepsy, medications for blood disorders, blood thinning medication, prescription retinoids such as isotretinoin within the last 6 months to 1 year, allergy to stainless steel, major operation scars less than 2 years old, no peels or dermaplaning in the last 2 weeks, filler in the last 2 weeks, hair removal in the last 5 days, excessive tanned or sunburnt skin from uv exposure or tanning creams.

Where does Microneedling originate from?

Centuries agoacupuncture is the earliest form of skin needling and traces its roots back to Chinese practices.
